Innovation competition
What is the AccessCoVE Innovation Competition?
The AccessCoVE Innovation Competition is an annual, international event that invites secondary school students aged 12 to 18, both with and without disabilities, to work together on ideas that improve accessibility in everyday life.
Inclusive collaboration and online format
The competition is conducted entirely online and in English, enabling students from different countries and backgrounds to participate on equal terms. It promotes inclusive teamwork and encourages mutual learning between students with diverse experiences.
Mentoring and idea development
Participants take part in group mentoring sessions delivered by invited experts in accessibility, innovation, and inclusive design. These sessions provide guidance to help students strengthen their proposals and understand the real-world impact of their ideas.
Judging and final presentation
All proposals are evaluated by a transnational panel of experts in accessibility, education, innovation, or technology. The panel is coordinated centrally, with judges nominated by project partners. Finalists are invited to present their ideas during a live online public event in May. Winners are announced from fifth to first place, and all participants receive certificates of participation.
Learning through participation
Beyond competition, this initiative helps students build creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills while deepening their understanding of accessibility and inclusion.
